"In rural settings and on clear nights dung beetles have always navigated using the Milky Way. Human lighting … lures the insects as if they were moths. This is inconvenient for householders and for the beetles, which waste precious energy reserves." ft.com/content/31a01d… https://t.co/KWJcAGAdZJ

@CalumDouglas1 Of course. Let me rephrase that. What kind of offer would you accept to make them public? Sufficient to defray your costs so as to make this resource available to the wider community? TOTALLY serious question. Dm me or email to Adam.tooze@columbia.edu

@omeagretimes @NewStatesman Same question came to my mind. Not done the digging yet.
@CalumDouglas1 Cheeky question perhaps, but are these digitized files available somewhere for public access?
Arriving to live & work in the US in 2009, I realize now I arrived just as the surge in Afghanistan began. It deeply marked my time @ Yale. @NB_pik @toddntucker @Tim_L_Meyer @dcullenward Thank you! Let us continue the conversation another time. Am going to do a newsletter post about @dcullenward victor over weekend. That will really set you off 🙂

@NB_pik @toddntucker @Tim_L_Meyer @dcullenward Of course. Stiglitz, Yellen et al would certainly still opt for that. But it is politically dead & buried in part because of the perceived failure of the California model which @dcullenward & Victor dissect. We are in a third best world and need to find a way of moving forward.
@NB_pik @toddntucker @Tim_L_Meyer @dcullenward Obviously it is a provisional first step. And the fact that it does not add up, is lost on no one. It is dictated by logic of what might conceivably start to move the ball in the US. No more. No less. What is your preferred strategy for the US?

In trans-Atlantic climate policy debates right now there are some eerie echoes of the 2008-eurozone crisis discord and incomprehension. In this long read for @ForeignPolicy I try to take stock and suggest a way forward. foreignpolicy.com/2021/08/06/cli… https://t.co/YksDzRf5jm

So it seems that that exciting piece in the @FT about killer robots, first use in Libya etc may be a tad sensationalist. Wow .. is that twice in a fortnight that smart security folks are taking issue with an @FT report? twitter.com/kpd_musing/sta…
