In 2018 Australia agreed to fund a subsea cable to Solomon Islands to block Huawei. Also bankrolled Telstra’s acquisition of Digicel #1 telecoms operator to stop sale to a Chinese operator. But now Solomon islands have gone with Huawei anyway.
