Clichés about Afghanistan as graveyard of empires abound. 1978-2021 flattened to endless war. But, as Chartbook #29 shows this is VERY misleading. Soviet-Afghan war is the Urtrauma = Ostfront-style shock. Violence of era of US intervention quite different.
