@ahaig8 @Scholars_Stage And your point about fighting to negotiate rather than to kill is fully born out by the data, which show FAR lower mortality in the Afghan civil war than in the battle with the Soviet Union. Of course the numbers are hedged with uncertainty but we are talking orders of magnitude.
